Lyles Crouch is 53% white. I'm not sure I'd call that "very non-diverse."

From what I've heard, the school is oversubscribed and not everyone living in boundary is guaranteed a spot.

PP, not everyone on this board is white or believes that all things white are right. I say this because many, many people make comments about schools based on the races of the student body. Thus, I believe that the PP may have wanted to point out to the racial composition of the student body to the OP.

Honestly, one can just look at the school profile on the school's website for a breakdown on the racial composition.

You say this like it's a bad thing... I don't understand.

Lyles-Crouch is terrific. Parents really like it, parents from other catchments within Alexandria City regularly try to transfer in (and they really can't any more -- there aren't any slots, L-C is just too popular in the neighborhood and there's never an untaken slot), the Principal is very highly regarded. We're at a different Alex public that we just love, but what strikes us about L-C is that, even during the darkest days of the last administration, L-C always did well and was highly regarded.

Dh are considering a move to old town but are first priority is schools. We are zoned for Brent in cap hill right now but have heard some good things about Lyle crouch and wonder if dd would get a better education there. But we really know very little about the school. Is it worth the move? Moving will also mean adding another 20 mins to both our commutes.
I wonder if I can cross post this thread in dcps forum as well?
