What would you do on Staatan Island? Ogle Italians?

hi all, op here..we did a nice hotel in pentagon city, got to run around the mall (nice and cool), ride the metro (right outside the hotel), pool for a few hours...we had a great adventure, put dresses on for tea, had a dance party in the hotel room before bed and laughed alot...thx for the input, will save all ideas for a less hot weekend...this one was just great and alot of nice silly memories!

Took my 4 year old daughter to Port Discovery in Baltimore and then to waterfront. It was a big hit!

What about National Harbor? So close by (so not wasting time in transit) yet would feel totally removed and different to her. Not sure what there is to do, but can't you take a water taxi to Old Town, plus all the fun of the hotel itself like pools. You could see a movie one afternoon, get yummy waffle breakfasts, maybe rent bikes or kayak.

Are you talking about *this* weekend or *some* weekend?

If this weekend, it's supposed to be unbearably hot, so you're talking either indoors or in water.

If it's just some weekend, you could explore a nearby city destination (Charlottesville, Richmond, Annapolis), or since she's an active kid do a trip to the Shenandoah's and go hiking, maybe get to Luray Caverns, etc., depending on what you think she'd enjoy.

But as a previous poster said, at 4 most anything will be something of an adventure, especially if it means getting your undivided attention. But I would try to do something relatively close - at least for my kids a long drive really gets to them.

I would second Dutch Wonderland if you really feel you need to go somewhere.

But she is 4. A trip to any hotel qualifies in her mind as a fun. Pick one with indoor/outdoor pools. Or one that is near a good playground.

Bedford Springs is not a kid resort. My in laws live there and we go often but my kids are bored to death. If I had some time with my four year old and money weren't an option, I'd go to NYC. Staatan Island, a show, some shopping, either Chinese or Italian dinner. Another thought is Dutch Wonderland.

Hi....I want to spontaneously whisk my 4 yr old daughter away for a weekend with me...DH and DS will stay home with other activities. Any suggestions? I was thinking omni Bedford springs but was wondering if that was more for me than her. Ocean city, but she is so fair I am not sure how much beach time we'd actually get. Could stay cation in the city and ramble about. She is very active, could walk for miles...loves to bike, draw and dance...any tips? We can leave fri noon and come back late sun...
