Unless your oven is pretty old, I'd be a little surprised if it has a permanent pilot though, in which case it might be more an issue of cleaning or realigning something. If the burners on our stove are not put back quite right, the stove won't light, for instance.

Yes-- so many oven now have electric ignitions and no permanent pilot light.

Call the gas company. They might be able to walk you through it over the phone.

1) Turn off the gas
2) locate the pilot light - it should be in the back of the oven, if you have a broiler compartment it will be there.
3) remove the cap and clean any crap off of it with a toothbrush
4) stick a pin down the hole to make sure it is clear, replace cap
5) Making sure that the oven is off turn on the gas
6) some models have a push button ignighter, if not, ignight using a long match fireplace lighter. It should burn with a small blue flame
