OP here. I think this is absurd. It is the 4th of July. It is hot. Kids will not be sleeping early because of the heat anyway. To me it would have been a relief to set off our fireworks. And I can't quite believe the arrogance of trying to tell others not to have their perfectly legal noisy fun on a publicly sanctioned noisy national holiday because you don't want to. I'm think anyone who says this would probably not set off fireworks, power or not. Busybody.
