seriously, they need to take super shuttle. Olney to Dulles to Fairfax? Screw that. He's wasting the same amount in gas that super shuttle would cost.

I was going to write this: "I think it's nice of your husband that he picks them up. And if his brother brought them to the airport it makes only 1 ride."

Then I googled when "Olney" is and now:

"Yes, that's crazy. That's 35 miles through rush hour!"

I don't understand why they can't cab it.

They get back at 3:30 pm and have to go through immigration so husband will sit thru prime rush hour traffic. I feel like if he can take all this time off to schlep his folks around, he shouldn't give me such a hard time when I ask him to do stuff for me. Or maybe he would actually use his time to spend with his daughter who he hardly sees during the week because of his work (ie long gym hours) hours.

Seriously, am I out of my mind thinking they are crazy for expecting him to do this and him tripping over his feet in trying to? Oh and the brother in fairfax may hsve a work meeting so can't pick them up himself.

Lady you are the B word.

Where is your brother-in-law in this scenario?? I agree with you that it's nuts, but I also agree with PP that you probably can't do anything about it. But it might be worth it to you to hire a car service to pick them up -- probably for $75 or something like that. I've picked people up at Dulles during rush hour and it completely sucks, plus your husband would then have to drive back to Olney! Will he at least hang out at his brothers house until after rush hour? Try the car service and call it "limo service" when discussing it with your in-laws, so they think they're being pampered.

My sister is the same way. Whenever she and her husband o on some expensive overseas trp, they expect either one of our parents to take them to Dulles. I live 30 min from Dulles. My sister lives in Sterling!!! And I have to drag my kd along and they are idles. I now refuse to do it and she gets pissed.

No, that is ridiculous that your husband has to make that drive. They should just cab it or take the Airport bus to Vienna metro and cab it from there (much cheaper than from the airport.) Your husband will spend more than the cab fare in gas and frustration.

Really just venting ....and maybe a reality check to see if this is truly crazy or maybe I'm just not seeing it right.

That would be an expensive cab ride in rush hour traffic. What about Super Shuttle?
