It's on again right now on cable. Such a horrible way to go. I felt anxious the whole time first time I watched it., Feel same way again but can't look away.

I found the movie deeply disturbing, and won't watch it again.
I had read a lot about the case it was based on; the couple in Australia.
The company was truly grossly negligent, and deserved to go to prison for manslaughter, but I don't think they did.
If I remember right it was days later when they realized at the dive shop; wait, whose things are in this locker?
So very sad. FWIW, I am a scuba diver, and have been going out with dive boats all over the world. It is important to choose the people well you are going out with. The dive guide better remember you!

I also saw open water 2, and for some reason, it didn't affect me the same way, it was more of an action movie, if you will. Although I think it was also loosely based on a true story, in fact, I think I saw the true story of that one on "I shouldn't be alive".

Same here, although I can't say I really liked the movie. The boat/dive crew really should have realized they were missing 2 tanks. Count, then count again. You are going back with 2 less tanks than you started with, obviously something is off.

As a diver I too make sure that someone that isn't my dive buddy becomes my check in partner. It happend last year off the the GBR, tho they rescued those people.

Not a diver or snorkler but the movie made quite an impression. Very simple premise, yet so scary.

The movie was actually loosely based on a true story, so it has happened. It is very rare though. Oh, and one word of advice, don't watch the sequel, "Open Water 2", which was terrible, IMHO.

Watched it last night. Very upsetting. I am not a diver, but we have snorkeled all over the world. Sometimes off of dive boats near reefs, etc. Anyone ever get left behind?
