I thought the fuss over higher class sizes to be idiotic myself.

The happiness wlll probably wane when they redistrict for the new elementary schools later.

Yep. Everyone is happy. We weren't when class size was potentially going to be raised and people were out I droves. My spouse spoke I front of the Board. They listened. Class sizes remain at same level. We also shot down 'blockscheduling'.

14:26 - we must be neighbors - we're also equidistant (I'm on Kensington).

I've got one son who will be in 5th grade when it's set to open, the other will be in 2nd. I don't particularly want my younger son to have to switch schools after he's gotten used to one, but I've seen some new schools have great teachers with fantastic energy, so maybe it will be a good thing. Regardless, I guess I kind of feel like there's not much to be done - the schools are too crowded, something has to be done and this seems like a reasonable solution.

we're one of the families potentially affected - we are equidistant from Nottingham (our assigned school) and Williamsburg, where the new elementary will be. I haven't bothered to register an opinion because I don't really have one. Our daughter will be in kindergarten or 1st grade when the new school opens. I assume that a new school should be comparable to the current one, so I'm not too worried.

The CIP for APS does not contain a lot of information, so it's not surprising that people don't line up in droves to discuss it.

Given the number of two working parent households and the overall crammed schedules of all households, I would say this statement does not hold:

Overall, the small number of speakers is a good sign, he said.

I completely disagree. We're talking about Arlington here. When Arlingtonians get their ire up, the board hears from them. Look at the whole trailers at Jamestown debacle.

What, exactly, should be people be protesting, OP? I mean, we all know we need more schools.

It is old, but have things improved? I admit, I am also just watching from the sidelines.
Would appreciate any updated information if anyone has it.

Haven't there been quite a few meetings about the CIP? This article is more than a month old.
