I moved into Arlington from Fairfax in part because of the guaranteed extended-day program. I didn't like the idea of being waitlisted in Fairfax and having to scramble for child care. In Arlington, if both parents work full-time, you're guaranteed extended-day admission if you apply by the deadline.

Five days a week?

Yes, but as someone else mentioned they don't do early care if that's important

City-sponsored recreation program (Alexandria) - it's popular and fills up quickly, so you have to book ASAP as soon as the City announces, some time in July.

Several private schools also have after care programs and use their buses to pick up kids and take them to their schools. In Vienna, two I know of are Chesterbrook Academy and Merritt Academy.

We use kindercare's school age program because the Tae Kwon Do place doesn't do before and after, but if I just needed after school care I would pick them as they also would get a TKD lesson while they were there. our TKD place does pick-up five days a week.

since we only need 2 days of aftercare, we use a neighborhood in-home daycare. Otherwise, I'd use SACC. But most schools also have daycares and programs that pick up from the school in a bus or van.

Au Pair. Wish we could get into SACC (and that it didn't end at 6:15).

If you're not in Fairfax, pls tell us the jurisdiction; people may have ideas.

Does your child attend after school care at school or do you have a nanny?
