There are quite a few schools in NoVa that have smaller graduating classes, and fewer dropouts along the way, who send more kids to the top public universities in Virginia than TC. The report seems to be consistent with the idea that motivated students there can do well. It doesn't suggest they have an advantage on similar students at other area schools.
If TC did, in fact, send 10 graduates to Ivy League schools, however, that would stand out. It would be rare for any high school in Arlington, Fairfax or Loudoun, which (unlike TC) allow their students to attend TJHSST, to send 10 seniors to the Ivy League.
Agree. I don't think TC students have an "edge" but it doesn't look like their college chances suffer, either. On the other end of the issue, it will be interesting to see what the numbers are for the dropout rate this year, and see if they've made any improvement along that line. And will be really, really interesting to see if the experiment with the satellite campus next year translates into fewer dropouts.
