You can have your child take the cogat/nnat at George Mason on certain testing weekends. That's what we did when we moved from private to AAP. It was more affordable than the WISC.

Or, you can pay more for an individual test (WISC).

This would be for students not in FCPS (such as but not limited to private school students) that would like to apply for FCPS AAP.

You are eligible but need to get private testing done if you live in the county and attend private school. I'm not sure of the dates residency is required for eligibility though. I know kids in private who have switched at 3rd grade to AAP.

That is exactly what I am asking.

To give more details, we are zoned for a not great elementary school on the Fairfax side of Alexandria. We have already decided that we do not want to send our kids to that school. However, we would be ok with the AAP center we are zoned for.

We are also considering moving to a better school district. I am hoping that my kids would be able to test into that AAP center when the time comes.

We plan to eventually move out of Alexandria but are exploring sending our kids to private elementary school in the short term.

If we move to a new school district when my eldest is in 2nd or 3rd grade, can my child take the exam to get into AAP?
If my child is able to take the test in 2nd grade while in private school in Alexandria, would he be able to get admission into the AAP program if we move to a better neighborhood like McLean or Falls Church?
