You can get a criminal background check done at the police department

Your son is being asked to check his own background? Or perform his own background check? That sounds a bit bizarre. As PP said, if his employer wants a background check, that's fine, but the employer should perform it and pay for it. And at least know how to do it. This employer sounds irresponsible to say the least.

Wouldn't the employer be the one to offer and pay for the background check? Otherwise, you could use Intellus or http://www.backgroundchecks.com/, some sort of online check.

My son (17) needs to get a background check for a job.

Does anyone know how to go about getting one? I was hoping with the Nanny forum someone here (either nanny or employer) has been-there-done-that.
