Indeed. Don't worry about the dirt. Worry about the pesticide chemicals you can't see. Dirt won't hurtcha!

This. I do work harder to remove visible dirt from things like celery and potatoes. Otherwise, just a good rinse under water.

Big items (apples, pears) I rub under the water faucet. Small, fragile items (berries, grapes) I soak in water for a minute, then rinse 1-2 times.

To be honest, these days we really try to buy organic. You can't wash off pesticides that have been absorbed into the fruit or veg.

So with organic, we just rinse and that's it.

The harsher foods with tough skins (potatoes, apples, etc.) we wash with a scrubber designated for solely that purpose. The others are hand-washed.

I just bought one of those fruit and vegetable cleaner sprays, hmmm- kinda leary here on those too. How do you wash your fruit/vegetables- what do you use- a scrubber?
