We look living in Woodley Park and having DC in Oyster. Prior to kids we lived by Dupont, and later chose Woodley over Bethesda to maintain "urban" and "connected" living (in our view; it will certainly seem different to people living in other areas).

Op here. Not planning on public. Private in the area, but we love oyster as a backup. Cathedral doesnt seem busier than say Reno rd or Loughboro but we'd like one of the numbered streets 31st, 32nd or 33rd.

I used to live on Cleveland Ave., and this is spot on. Loved being walking distance to metro, close to dowtown, etc. The neighborhood restaurants are disappointing, as is the shopping within walking distance. We had a garage, but parking the second car on the street was a pain. A huge amount of traffic goes around/through that area, with folks going to the Parkway and Connecticut. We moved, and don't miss it at all. I've also lived in Cleveland Park, and I preferred it to Woodley.

If you are planning on public be aware that Oyster is changing the teaching model next year. It is no longer a Title 1 school so no longer qualifies for the funds the paid for the 2nd teacher

I live in Cleveland Park.

Those two blocks east of Connecticut above Calvert and south of the zoo have a great family feel. There are a ton of kids and little alleyways in behind the houses. There's no supermarket, but Brookville is probably close enough (you can bus or metro). There's a CVS, but for a library or post office you need to go up to the Cleveland Park strip. You can join the pool at the hotels (Marriott or Omni Shoreham) but it's really pricey.

If you are talking about the rowhouse on Cathedral, it's a great block.
Lots of families have moved in over the past 5 years, most of whom are sending their kids to Oyster.
Cathedral is a busy street, but only during rush hours in the am and pm. But there is no chance of building across the street because it is park/zoo land.

I like it. Close in. Good schools (Oyster > Wilson) by DCPS standards. Walk to metro. Bikeable distance to cooler hoods.
