Beautiful houses, great elementary school, close metro and easy to walk to Dupont, Zoo, etc. The downside that I didn't realize before I moved here is how much the couple of big conference hotels dominate the local market. The restaurants and shops along Conn aren't really neighborhood spots, but are oriented to the conference (and tourist/zoo) foot traffic. There are a couple of gems, but it's mostly kind of generic, non-offensive but non-wonderful and overpriced. But you can walk into Adams Morgan, Mt Pleasant, Dupont for variety. Also, street parking can be a total pain in the ass, I would not want to buy a place w/o a garage or off street parking.
I used to live on Cleveland Ave., and this is spot on. Loved being walking distance to metro, close to dowtown, etc. The neighborhood restaurants are disappointing, as is the shopping within walking distance. We had a garage, but parking the second car on the street was a pain. A huge amount of traffic goes around/through that area, with folks going to the Parkway and Connecticut. We moved, and don't miss it at all. I've also lived in Cleveland Park, and I preferred it to Woodley.
