14:02 again. The PP is correct. Your DS would have to really love the program and be committed to it. Students who are successful at SJC choose the program for themselves. We lost about 40% of our original class by graduation. Introduce your DS to the school and then follow his lead. I used to sleep with the admissions brochure by my bed. It's that kind of place.

St. John's has a high attrition rate for a college with the caliber of students it attracts. It requires a greater degree of commitment to a specific program than other institutions.

I'm a St. John's and Harvard Law grad. Many SJC grads pursue law degrees. The Great Books curriculum requires one to absorb, analyze and discuss complex texts...in a collaborative learning environment. Aside from preparing me to handle the enormous reading and analysis load in law school, the learning environment developed skills useful in discussing case strategies, etc. as well as debating and analyzing classic issues of rights & morals. I encourage you & DS to explore this further....attending SJC was one of the best experiences of my life.

I graduated from SJC in Santa Fe and think that the program provides an excellent education that is also a good preparation for law school. I am not an attorney but had classmates who went to Stanford and U.Chicago Law and are successful in their careers. I highly suggest that your son visit the school and if they still have the overnight visit for prospective students I recommend that as well.

I attended SJC in Annapolis and now practice law in DC. I cannot say enough good things about the school. It was an incredible place to learn, grow up, and think about what my future would be like. The tutors care about teaching; the classroom encourages thought and discussion; and the curriculum is, of course, a classic.

I was also well prepared for law school. There was a little adjustment to the lecture format, bigger classes, and written exams, but nothing overwhelming. There were several other SJC grads in my law school, and I know several of my SJC classmates also went on to successful law practices.

I am really intrigued by this college for DS who wants to pursue a law degree. Thoughts on the Great Books curriculum.
