OP here -- some background -- I have a transabdominal cerclage placed because of incompetent cervix issues. I will most likely need to use IUI according to the MFM who placed it.

I don't think any of the reputable clinics will do gender selection for ethical reasons. I don't think it is possible to gender select with an IUI. I assume it's possible with IVF since they could test the embryo, but (aside from the ethical problem) sticking a needle into an embryo to test it is very risky and can cause harm to the embryo, so I think they only do that where it is medically warranted, such as when they are testing for genetic disorders or chromosomal abnormalities. Also keep in mind that most insurance companies won't cover infertility treatments unless you've been trying for a certain amount of time on your own - which they obviously can't prove or disprove in the first place - and that you have to do a lot of expensive and time-consuming testing before you can even do an IUI at a fertility clinic.

(sorry. Didn't mean to hit submit). If you inseminate after ovulation, more Ys will get there first raising the probability of getTing a boy. Inseminate earlier, there will be more Xs hanging around waiting for the egg when you ovulate.
