In addition to grass cutting, what other landscaping services are typically required? We just bought a house on .7 acres and won't have time (or expertise) to take care of the landscaping ourselves. All the yards in the neighborhood look so manicured, not a weed in sight. If we wanted to hire someone to keep our landscaping in comparable condition - i.e., immaculate flower beds with pretty seasonal plantings, well-maintained trees and shrubbery, etc. - what services would we need, and roughly how much would it cost?

People...you need to include your location too.

$25 for a mow and edging every 2 weeks for .3 acre in Silver Spring. Neighbors with a small but hilly yard pay $40.

$30/week for .33 an acre. Mowing and edging only.

FYI we are in Potomac. I do think location matters. We seem to pay more for everything

We pay $45 for weekly mowing, and then on average $60/month for the lawn care service.

$32 for .25 acre for mowing and edging.

$25 for mowing and edging 1/3 acre and they do a nice job.

2 acres, $100 a month, mowed and edged twice a month

$60 for 2 acres just to mow and a little bit of edging.

We have almost that much land and our service charges us $40 for weekly mowing. Last year we paid a neighborhood kid $20 to do it. We've also paid about $1200 for a spring cleanup and $400 for aeration and spraying broadleaf weeds.

Acreage is relevant - please include...trying to figure out what we need vs. what is reasonable for .4 acres.
