I agree with everyone.I was a bit puzzled. My child gets straight A's in math, science, and social studies, but when I got the priliminary reports for sol I was quite surprise. He passed all subjects in the 3rd grade sol,but the only one he got pass/advance on was social studies.During the practise test for math and science he has gotten one wrong. So what happened in the sol test? I'm hoping when the results are sent in August he will score higher.

For third grade, there were 50 questions. I'm not sure where the cut off was for pass/pass advanced.

Scores are definitely down. We have 5 third grade classes and typically we have less than 5 fail the math. This year, from my count looking at the preliminary scores, we had 30+.

We got preliminary scores on 2 tests with the report card. They were both in the 490's which was surprising to me. All tests before this year have always been in the 580's and up.

Ok. (14:39 here). My school didn't send home any preliminary scores.

[list]We haven't received math scores yet they were taken on paper. Our school had Social Studies and Science online. My child's scores were lower than I expected. I do think the overall scores will be lower with the online testing.

My 5th graders online writing SOL was lower than he gets with written papers. I believe it was because he has not had a lot of practice composing a paper on the computer.
