I know some people on their board and it is a really impressive list. We would definitely have considered the school if we had known about it at the time. With that said, I am happy to state that my son will be attending Banneker in the fall.

@7:36, my sentiments exactly. Many people are clueless about Howard and that's okay. The exposure alone our children get at the middle school age to Howard University is worth twice as much as those students who are at SWW on George Washington's campus.

Cleveland ES is also across from Howard and has had consistently good (for DCPS) math scores and a bilingual program and is rarely mentioned on DCUM. Hmmm...

Consider this, Banneker is located across the street from Howard and SWW is located on the campus of George Washington and there's more credence to one than another. You can guess which one. Those who have graduated from HUMS and are attending DCPS schools are doing extremely well.

On paper, this looks like a reasonable middle school option in a city with a dearth of them -- any idea why it doesn't get more play on these boards? I mean, why are there a bajillion postings about a school that doesn't yet exist (Basis) and so few postings about a seemingly similar school (MS2) with an actual track record?
