Aquaphor works great and won't rub off in the water. Shea butter should be good too.

Cocoa or shea butter.

Exfoliate them gently 2-3xs per week using apricot scrub. I would apply a mix of shea butter and coconut oil to his knees 2xs per day. You can find shea and coconut oil at a health food store. The dry skin will probably start flaking away within three weeks.

Have you heard of Vaseline?

My son has been swimming in the ocean and pool like crazy this summer, and it's made his skin super-dry. He's got a new (to me) issue, though, with gray-black knees. I thought at first it was dirt, but it seems to be very dry skin instead. Lotion doesn't seem to help. Does anyone else have some ideas about what might work?

I'm very pale and while I get dry skin, it doesn't have a different color like this. My son has more of an olive complexion, and this is very noticible. I just didn't know if there was any type of quick fix or not. TIA.
