Goodstone Inn in Middleburg VA is wonderful! And only an hour from DC.

another place to look into is berkely springs, WV....

maybe look into some of the area golf/spa resorts? nemacolin? landsdowne? Also Savage River Lodge near frostburg is delightful-- I got engaged there in the spring 6 years ago and it's quiet and not terribly family oriented, so you won't have the problem of crowded beaches in summer. There is also a Hyatt in Cambridge MD that may be worth checking into as well as plenty of B&Bs in the area surrounding Luray, VA.

We are also looking for a July weekend babymoon. I would love to stay at inn at perry cabin but it's out of our range - any other nice places there? Or in Charlottesville or Lancaster?

Rehobeth does not sound like my idea of a relaxing babymoon. It is very crowded and crazy over the summer with kids running everywhere. For close to DC, St. Michaels is nice. The Inn at Perry Cabin is the best if you can afford it, it's very expensive but sometimes has specials.

12:34 here. My family is in Boston so we get a cheap flight from DCA to logan and then get picked up in Boston and drive to the Cape. Flying in and grabbing a car at the airport would work too. If you want to visit the outer cape (Province town, Truro, etc.) it's worth getting a ferry from Boston. Otherwise driving is just as easy.

There used to be good flight to Hyannis but these days they are barely running them and you'll likely have to fly to logan and switch to Cape Air. But, if you have the funds, that's not a bad way to go. Rentals can be picked up at Hyannis airport.

From CT it would just be a 3-4hr drive.

Rehoboth Beach has a great downtown shopping area with lots of nice spas and cute boutiques and gourmet restaurants.

We are looking at St. Michaels for the same thing (combined with 10 year anniversary). The Five Gables Inn looks nice and has a spa with prenatal massage offered.

PP, how to get to the Cape? We are also interested in a similar babymoon and wonder how to travel there.

A weekend in Cape Cod would be wonderful. Try calling Chatham Bars Inn and ask if they have any weekends that would work. (Or any other inn you find ... this is where we've had lots of family fun.) Other towns: Orleans, Welfleet or Truro (if you take a ferry from Boston ... otherwise, long drive), Brewster etc.

Also, we had a super easy and nice Annapolis weekend. Not fancy but easy and good food.

Charlottesville is another favorite but no waterfront.

We're expecting DC #2 in October, and we'd love to go away for a long weekend in June/July and leave DD with my sister. DD could be dropped off at my sister's house in Connecticut or sister could come to DC. We're open to other ideas, but a quaint seaside town with a few artsy shops, some good food, and a lovely inn is what I'm dreaming of. Any recommendations for places on the coast either within driving distance from here or CT (could be RI, MA, southern ME) that stand a chance at still having availability at this late date? Thanks in advance!
