Yes, reading levels matter in 4th grade, but there are other measures that are looked at and get more attention such as the Reading SOL. Schools are not required to administer or report DRA results past grade two. It doesn't mean that teachers are administering it. In grades 1 and 2, all teachers have to administer and report the DRA level.

So is DRA levels important in 4th grade in Fairfax county or does it matter most in 1st to 2nd grade?

20:04 here. I have not heard a reading score since 2nd grade. Do they do it after then? I just assumed they stopped.

Some schools in FCPS use the upper grade DRA, while others use the Fountas & Pinnell levels (alphabetical). Both are fine assessments.

I don't think they do the DRA in 4th. My DD didn't do it in 3rd or 4th.

In Fairfax county, third graders should end the year at a DRA38, which means this is where they would start 4th grade in September.

Does anyone know what the DRA levels should be at the beginning of 4th grade?
