There is a thread in the Indenpendent/Private schools forum about "Landon School Scandal" in which I discovered two posters who are being paid $5 per post to criticize Landon.

Intriguing. I assumed by "paid troll" you meant someone at say @georgetownprep.com or other school that competes for students with Landon. But, you actually mean a paid troll. Wow. Now I wonder if the Flint Hill School hater might be paid too. I'm curious if the troll just
'fessed up after your contact or what. If you can share details of your investigative work, I'd love to hear about it .

I missed your answer with the cross posts. I'll check out the thread.

Who! Exciting...

And for the umpteenth time folks, it's Jeff's world, play by his rules or go home. He is very clear about what the are.

Read the thread. Everything I know about the paid trolls is there.

I can't prove that such threads are real, but I do investigate these threads to see if they are sock puppetted or show other signs of not being real. I have locked and/or removed such threads before.

What you don't seem to understand about the Landon thread is that the sock puppetting was very obvious -- sock puppets are normally a lot more circumspect these days. Also, the paid trolls were easy to identify. Since I have never encountered paid trolls before, that by itself makes the thread unique and more worthy of my attention. You seem to be upset that I have given the Landon thread undue attention, but fail to recognize that it involves unusual circumstances that justify that attention.

Like I said, cheers! Your prerogative as admin person as to which threads warrant such vigilant investigation.

What do you expect me to do with regard to such posts?

I have intervened on any number of threads that have identified doctors by names. I do hope you understand the distinction between an individual posting about his or her personal experience and another individual posting multiple posts in the guise of distinct posters in order to generate a false perception that the viewpoint being presented is more widespread than is true.

I have no idea what you mean about threads that allude to child abuse.

Jeff suggested that I start a thread here rather than ask questions on the most recent Landon thread, so here it is. Why does he assert his admin and sleuthing efforts on a private school thread rather than on threads that slander specific people (doctors , lawyers) or threads that allude to child abuse?
