You appear to be very touchy and have a very low threshold before complaining about something. I was just making a general observation.

Fair enough, Jeff, and that was why I was trying to tread respectfully.

I hope the OP knows I meant no personal insult. I was responding to her thread here, not her original thread.

That said, I also hope that everyone can understand the point I was trying to make about how we see threads.

As you can see, Jeff, I'm not 9:14 and don't engage in trolling or sock puppeting and I'm not afraid to use the report button when I think something is off. Of course, I'm also not afraid to bring the fire on occasions.

I like it here. I value what you do and I feel a responsibility to raise the bar when I can. Something about OP's thread here felt unfair to me, but, of course, in the absence of more detail, I tried to be as fair as possible in my response.

Thanks for the clarification.

Let me just say for the record that the OP's thread was not a discussion thread and was one that was clearly "hers".

Actually, PP, I think you are being too hard on 9:14.

You're right, s/he doesn't know what was going on in the thread because you didn't clue us in on what thread you were talking about. However, it is a good point to question whether a thread is "yours" if you are the OP and to what degree you should get to control what gets removed and what doesn't. That is a touchy issue around here and it is a slippery slope, some think, from asking for mean things to be removed from "your" thread, to asking for people you disagree with to shut up. I hope you understand that point and consider maybe that is what 9:14 meant.

Of course, I don't know for sure if that is what 9:14 because I am not them. Generally, I find Jeff's admin decisions spot on and if he removed posts, I'm quite likely to think he did a good thing. I think he does an overall great job running a site that is something like herding anonymous cats.

That said, I think it's good for us to consider the boundaries and ramifications of our power to call threads "ours".

I hope that makes sense.

Interesting that people seem to think they "own" threads here.

Hi Jeff, I asked you earlier in the day about removing some negative and insulting posts in my thread. I appreciate that you cleared them out. Many thanks for the fast attention and help.
