I don't like the stripes either, and I think they make the model's (probably tiny) hips look big.

I don't think it's that flattering on the model.

I think you just have to see how it fits on you - the concern I would have is whether it gives the girls enough support, as I've found JCrew doesn't do as well as other brands with this (the only reason I would say JCrew suits are for a younger crowd). But they usually have free shipping if you order more than $150, so order a bunch of suits, try them on at home, and return what doesn't work to a store.

Also, you may want to size down - when I ordered JCrew suits earlier this year they ran larger than in the past.

I like the cut, but not the stripes -- a little too sailor looking for my taste. But if you like that look, go for it. It's definietly not too old looking for a 38-year old. J.Crew doesn't make clothing "too old" for anyone in their 30s or 40s, IMHO.

I don't know - its cute but I just bought a different striped one-piece and because I have a slightly poochy mom belly, the stripes look bumpy over it and emphasize the pooch rather than hide it. I'm returning it. If they have the same suit in a pattern that's not stripes or a solid, then its cute.
