I'm work in non profit management, administration and development and my salary is just under $225k. However, the constant being online until midnight, never seeing my kids, waking up in a cold sweat at night because of work, is really wearing on my family. I'm looking for a role that is hopefully closer to a 9-5 job or at least has slightly better hours.
Before people flame away, I've stayed in roles like this as long as I have because we have family we help support or anticipate will need help later and we wanted to build up savings while we could as long as we could stand it
So my questions:
1. do jobs like this actually exist? I've been working insane hours for so long its hard for me to believe everyone isn't tied to their blackberry all night and always on call
2. how much can I expect to make in a role with scaled back hours like that? I assume its at least cutting my salary in half if I were to start doing development for a smaller non profit, which is fine.
This non-profit scam needs to stop, seriously 225k? Thats highway robbery. If your donors knew that they would pull the plug on you ASAP.
