I suspect TJ students are still performing at a higher level than students in the area private and public schools

Actually, the problem are the non-preppers.
If they had prepped properly, they wouldn't be in deficient in their math skills.

Prepping may work for an admissions test, but obviously it's not enough to sustain that level of work over the long term. If your kid has the appropriate aptitude for math and science, they'll get in just fine without prepping. If not, don't do them a disservice by forcing the issue.

ITA. My parents never helped me with math homework or any homework. I always tested 99th percentile in all standardized tests.

I would often be annoyed at the students who struggled in honors and AP math. They probably should not have been in the class in the first place. The extra help may have worked in 2nd grade but not in junior high and high school.

Hardly quiet -- lots of comments over the past several days.

The alleged declining math and science scores remain head and shoulders above all area schools (private and public) except perhaps Blair Magnet program. There is no school to my knowledge with 40% of the graduating class a NMSF. There is no school to my knowledge with high mean and median SAT, PSAT, and AP scores (math and science). There is no school to my knowledge with more math and science awards (e.g., Intel, Siemens, RSI, USAMO, MOSP). I'm not sure what all the fuzz is about -- small blips and minor variations.

Too funny! This prepping/not prepping thing has taken on a life of it's own
