True. Most posters can't afford NWDC. The jealousy is so apparent.

You are delusional. Many posters just think DC provides poor value for the money compared to MD and VA. And the trash talk between those who live DC east of RCP and those who live in the suburban parts of DC like AU Park can be pretty intense here as well.

My point still stands. Most suburbanites here can't afford NW and thus they think it's such bad value. People here also hate Spring Valley just because it's expensive.

I would extend that. Most suburbanites probably can't afford many district neighborhoods (let's face it, it's silly expensive), but I imagine that there are some that truly prefer suburbia living. Those that have CHOSEN the suburban lifestyle seem to have a normal thread responses. Those that need to live in NOVA or MD because they can't afford city living, however, seem to trash DC as poor value to make themselves feel better.

LMAO! I live in McLean because it is OBVIOUSLY better. It's like comparing a beat up toyota truck from Afghanistan to a shiney, new BMW.

I disagree. McLean and NOVA get a lot of warranted and rational criticism, whereas neighborhoods in the district receive the uninformed vitriol that you speak of. Who speaks like that btw?!

I think the outer exurbs are pretty much considered not even worthy of trashing on these forums.

Most trashed areas are definitely NWDC, Gtown, Capitol Hill. Outside DC the most trashed seem to be Arlington and Mclean, not so much hate for Bethesda/Potomac seems like.

Overall, pretty much most expensive places to live in DC metro get the most heat on these forums, VA and DC more so than MD. You would think most posters here are from Bethesda, LOL.

there is a disconnect between your title and your actual post. Shouldn't it say which area/neighborhood gets the most trash talk? When you say city, I was thinking Baltimore, Detroit, etc.

FWIW, I see a lot of PG County hate on this board - and I live in VA. I don't commute into the District and neither does my husband, so living there doesn't make any sense. I don't trash the District or feel jealous - it just doesn't work for us. Honestly, I'd rather live in MD, but VA is where our jobs are.

Does this board trash talk more DC neighborhoods, VA burbs, or MD burbs? I live in DC and it seems like DC neighborhoods are relentlessly criticized on this website (Georgetown appears to be the latest target, for instance). Do other people feel like VA and MD get hit with more trash talk?
