I've been to a "cash please" wedding. Now don't get me wrong, it was a FABULOUS wedding...probably the nicest wedding I've ever been to. But the couple purposely planned this elaborate wedding with the expectation that they would recoup some of their costs via cash gfits. I thought it was tacky as hell and really didn't want to go but DH was in the wedding.

Asking for cash at a DESTINATION wedding. Beyond tacky...more like inconsiderate and I probably wouldn't want to be friends with people like this.

Be generous of spirit. Couples are now asking for experiences not objects. Fine. Go or dont go but dont be bitter.

We had friends who wanted to do this. We were able to steer them toward doing a registry and putting just a few items on it. That way when people tried to get a gift and all of them were purchased they were likely to bring cash as a gift.

I've never been invited to a wedding where the bride and groom asked for cash. I'd be utterly appalled by this. I don't understand how anyone can think this is okay.

I would not go to the wedding.

Yeah, unfortunately this is a big trend. Any couple that blatantly asks for cash on anything wedding related (invitation, website) is tacky enough, but asking people to fly across the world, pay for a stay at a resort, and THEN cough up cash takes balls.

What are they asking for cash for? Honeymoon? Just a gift? This is trashy.

I can't even express how offended I am. The destination is very, very expensive and will cost easily $4K for a weekend. The registry page started with 'your presence is the gift' (perfect!) and ends with a plea for cash. To top it off there was a picture of money on the page! Really? Ugh, come on.
