We started at Mount Daniel during the spring of kindergarten and are now finishing up 3rd grade at TJ. We've been happy so far. Since the grades are split up between K-1 and 2-4/5 (if we stay in FCC our daughter will be the first class of 5th graders back at TJ) it's nice that there are only little kids on the Mount Daniel bus. We walk to TJ so I don't have any experience with the TJ bus.

At the end of first grade the kids will go on a field trip to TJ (and there's also a prospective 2nd grade parent orientation night).

The elementary PTA is for both schools so there are both separate events for each of the schools and combined events -- such as movie nights, ice cream socials, and faculty basketball game.

Your child will need a physical before you can enroll your son.

you won't be able to enroll him until you have proof of address- but it doesn't matter. By brother moved to FCC the friday before school started-- he's foreign service and tried to enroll early but they wouldn't let him until he was actually here. It's fine- public school has to take you.

Our son goes to Mt. daniel and we can't say enough positive things about it. they are wonderful and attentive teachers and have lots of exciting programs. I particularly like that the K and 1st grade is separate from the rest of the ES because the little ones really do need a different structure.

Hi,
We may be moving to Falls Church and would like to hear opinions about Mount Daniel School. Also about Thomas Jefferson, and the flow / transition from one to the other.
We are about to relocate from abroad and my son will start K in the fall. I know very little about the requirements for entry to public school, apart from living in the school boundaries. Any insights welcome. We won't have a proof of address until mid- June at the earliest. Can this be a problem?
Thanks.
