Another vote for this brand. The scent of the product is reasonably light, and not bad.

My son always used Paul Mitchell gel. It held well and didn't flake like some cheaper brands. It also didn't make his skin break out.

If your son truly wants his hair to Spike upward (defy gravity), he will indeed need a super strong gel or paste. Go to the garnierusa.com website. They actually break their products out into styling needs, i.e spiky. Beware that many gels can leave spiked hair looking wet. Paste may be the better way to go. If he applies paste to dry hair, that stuff will defy gravity and not look wet and loaded with gel. The best paste ever is Aquage. I get it on Amazon. Not sure where they sell it locally.

I'd go to Ulta and ask them. I've gotten good advice regarding those kinds of products. For a super, super spikey look, they recommended Got to Be Glued. It's a fitting name and it works really well We can get some amazing spikes but it's literally like having glue in your hair - but easier to wash out.

There are a couple of kinds for men that you can find in the grocery store or CVS. It's all really the same but they look more manly Just look for the manly dark gray or black containers in the hair care section.

My son just got his hair cut and wants to use gel to make it spiky on top. I hate hair products in my hair so I honestly don't know what to buy him. Any ideas?
