OP here, thanks so much everyone, these are great ideas -- we'll start making the rounds this summer. More suggestions welcome too!

A great gelato place just up Wisconsin from Sweet's noted earlier. Can't remember name. Pricey, but delicious.

We like Broad Branch market in CC DC. They have picnic tables outside. Fairly easy parking.

There's Max's Best on Wisconsin. You can take the ice cream across the street to Guy Mason. Or there's Thomas Sweet on P Street and Wisconsin. Neither really has easy parking, though.

I'm sure there must be some but I can't think of any -- just a place to go to after dinner and sit outside with a sundae or an ice cream cone. There is the Baskin Robbins in Woodley Park but that would take us 30 minutes to metro out there (including walk to metro) and parking around there is a pain. DH doesn't like frozen yogurt so the Cleveland Park yogiberry is out. Is there another place I am missing? Hoping for something that is a 10 minute drive away with easy parking. Thanks!
