Little Serow in DC is suppose to be fantastic, (I've heard from friends)

Komi is delicious

Citronelle, although I haven't been in 2 years, but it never disappoints.

You're my kinda diner, PP! OP, these are all great suggections. I love Jaleo in DC, which just got a much-needed facelift. I've never had good luck with the Bethesda location, though. Unfortunately, if you want to go to Komi or Citronelle, on a weekend, you have to plan weeks, maybe months in advance. Little Serow doesnt; take reservations, but unless you put your name in early (like get in line at 5:00 - they open at 5:30), you will be eating very late or not at all. We recently got on the list on a Friday night at 7, at 9:30 pulled the plug and went somewhere else. Wouldn't have gotten a table at all.

Also, love Palena and Palena Cafe, and Rasika is AMAZING.

Raku and mussel bar, yuck.
Persimmon is tired. I live in Bethesda and have to agree that most of the food is bland and unexciting. Redwood is the best of the bunch. You can sit outside and the food is pleasant.

Obelisk in Dupont is amazing for foodies. It's prix fixe $75 pp.

Brasserie beck, et voila, central are nice, moderately priced French/ Belgian places.

Just do something nice close to where you live, don't waste time driving.

Dino is a great, not too expensive restaurant.

If you want something a little more upscale there is Palena.

Both are within about a block of Cleveland Park metro.

Nothing in Bethesda qualifies as "really good" unfortunately.

I personally like Tako Grill in Bethesda on Wisconsin across from Chevy Chase Chevyland (is that what it's still called?). Good sushi, but I think others on here don't like it as much.

Are you looking at high end (Komi ran us $500 for 2) or more mainstream/casual but good?

In Bethesda you can try Raku or Mussel Bar (more fun than great food). In Palisades I like Et Voila and Blacksalt. Rasika is supposed to be excellent, although I haven't been.

My DH and I are finally going on a date night since our 11m DS was born. So very excited for a night sans kids, time with DH, and good foods. We're foodies but we just moved to the area and would love some recommendations. Any suggestions?
