Maybe he'd like her also to drive a rattletrap old unsafe car around with your kids in it, bald tires and bad transmission. And she can cough up some tubercular slime from living in filthy conditions.

He is a shithead and you deserve more-go run away with the nanny's husband. He is more successful.

Food for thought: if nanny's husband supplies the majority of the HHI, then nanny won't (most likely) ask for substantial raises. She doesn't "need" the money as much as another nanny might.

Not saying you should lowball her or cut her salary because her husband is loaded.

P.S. I knew several women who fit your nanny's description who work in retail.

Remind your husband that there are tons of women married to successful, high-earning men who work as teachers and the like! I cannot tell you how many teachers I've known over the years who match your nanny's description to a T. It's definitely more teachers than nannies but he's a fool for not understanding how much more reliable a person like this might be!

Well, it is an unusual circumstance - I'd be surprised too, to find out that someone married a rich guy and continued to be a nanny. He's probably just really thrown. It is odd, to have someone working for you that is richer than their employer. I'd probably let the dust settle and see how it goes. I'm sure that if she did decide to quit on you, that she'd give proper notice. You don't keep your job when you're married to a rich dude if you have a crappy worth ethic.

My husband is a great guy but the discovery of some information about our nannys home life has shown a very unflattering side of him. We have an excellent nanny who has been with us for about 7 months. We are just now getting to know things here and there about her personal life and we recently discovered she is married to a very successful man. She would never ever say such but she did tell us what he does for a living and he works for a publicly traded company and his salary is published information. So yes, we googled him. My husband feels completely uncomfortable about this. He tries to hide it by saying he is just uncertain because since she has no reason to work she might become unreliable or quit suddenly, however that is non sense because she has never done that thus far and has so many excellent references. He is just bothered by the fact that the nanny is richer then him. It's so unflattering and makes me want to throw up. His manhood and ego is really bothered by this and he wants to hire another nanny. I just can't believe he is such a jerk and find it appalling how uncomfortable he is with other peoples success. I want him to go to therapy because I think this is really a problem, he thinks our nanny is a family decision and if one person isn't happy then we need to rehire. I refuse, she's great and fits our needs perfectly. Ugh, I guess I had to come on this board to vent bc I could never talk about this to anyone in real life!
