Totally weird I would be annoyed. I have a weird SIL who has posted pictures of my son and I to her FB page. Not pictures that I've posted myself. She also posted my ultrasound pic, which I actually made her take down. Everything else I let go.

OP, is you MIL on Facebook and connected?

Maybe your sister in law printed out the pictures for her so she could see them?

I would not find it strange if she took all your photos of your child, compiled it into a handy book for YOU, and gave it to you as a gift (presumably to save you the trouble of gathering it). I do find it weird that she (the aunt) compiled your (the mom) pictures and gave some a book to her mom (the grandma) as a gift.

I am trying to figure out what bothers me about it though, and though there are several obvious things (not her photos, met the baby once, didn't tell you she was doing it), I guess it just comes down to it being socially awkward of her. I hope that it is because she is enthused by your child or that she wanted to please her mother. I'd be weirded out but vote that it probably reflects some personal issues OR just a different family dynamic at play.

(Your mom wouldn't think it was weird if your sister did this and gave it to her?)

Its the first grandchild. I don't know when she gave the gift.

I should add that I scrapbook, I journal, I make video and photo dvds..SIL had access to my site with photos, videos, and a journal because she is family. But I feel what she did was out of line...because that is what I do as a mother and she doesn't even have a relationship with the baby.

If I didn't scrapbook and make an effort to do all these things then I wouldn't care. So PP no I am not looking for a reason to be mad. I just feel it was out of line.

Feel your pain, OP. This is totally something my SIL would do, and I agree that it is totally inappropriate.

Wouldn't care. I mean you posted the pictures and gave her access to them so its not like she stole them from you. I agree with your mom - you are just looking for a reason to be mad at her.

My SIL took online photos of my baby and made a first year album for her mother...complete with captions. I don't know if she did this before I gave my MIL a first year album or after but I don't care. I am annoyed. I feel it was out of line and stepping on my toes. My sister agrees. My mother thinks I am just mad because I have a problem with my SIL so I am looking for a reason to be mad. No, I am mad because I just feel it wasn't her place to do that. She has only seen the baby once. How is she captioning photos based on what I wrote online?

I would be interested to hear what others think.
