LOL. Who the hell is being overwhelmed in AAP? Really overwhelmed? What a joke.

My husband and I did not get perfect 800s on our SATs. Our daughter who we do not refer to as snowflake is not a super genius. We prepped her because she is somewhere in the top 25% or so of students. She has been in AAP two years now at a center school, gets all O’s and is bored with AAP because it is so easy. If AAP is so hard then God help the students who are in the regular program since they'll probably all have a nervous breakdown if they are tasked with anything more challenging than trying to tie their own shoes.

There are plenty of those at our center, and even a few below grade level in one area or another. I am not sure parents realize what this can do to a kid's self-esteem. Being overwhelmed has more potential for damage than being bored does.

This is good info for those who are entering AAP as fourth graders. Be ready for the fifth grade curriculum at the very least.

True, pp. We're at a center, and although on paper the kids are working a year ahead....they do differentiate, and many kids are working beyond that.

In addition to that, it largely depends on your school. If you are at a center with lots of differentiation (ours typically has 4-5 AAP classes at each grade level), you can have kids learning anywhere from 5th grade math up to Algebra.

If you go to the FCPS website and look up the math Curriculum for FIFTH grade, you will have your answer.

Anyone know what kids learn in math- 4th grade AAP?
