More and more families in the neighborhood are attending these schools, as opposed to five or six years ago. I'd say that about half the families we know in Woodmoor send their kids to St. Bernadette (the Catholic school on the edge of the neighborhood) and half choose the public schools. Our bus stop alone has eight children who go to MK and many of them will be moving on to PC next year. Woodmoor kids probably make up about 25% of the population at the two public schools; other neighborhoods inside the Beltway also feed to both MKES and PCES.
I agree with this, but would say the percentage of Woodmoor kids going to the public schools is growing. My DD is in K this year at Montgomery Knolls and a third of her classs is from Woodmoor, while neighbors tell me that even three years ago, there were only 1-2 Woodmoor kids in each Montgomery Knolls class.
