I grew up in pwc schools, and we had pep rallies, football nights had overflowing parking lots, kids wore their school tshirts to practice and also "spirit week", even choral concerts were packed with standing ovations. Does this not happen in fairfax/arlington/alexandria? Really? It's all about the gifted program and that's it? Is there any wholesome fun at high school these days?

No. I don't think people put much stock in these vapid and superficial "wholesome" activities. We tend to stress individuality here, rather than conformity and groupthink.
Wow, I know Woodson, Lake Braddock, Robinson, West Springfield, and TJ all have these activities going on. If you can't enjoy some simple fun activities in high school, when can you?

Are you sure about that? Sounds like you might not be finished yet.

Huh. Guess I thought everyone knew that cheer. The title of my post is a line taken from a cheer done at pep rallies and football games. It's meant to inspire a "cheer battle" where each side cheers louder than the other side. I learned it in high school.
