When my baby was 8 months she fell off our bed onto our hardwood floor (our bed was SO HIGH) and landed on her head, cut her head open and there was blood. She is fine today and she is 14 months.

My fourth was four weeks old and my 10 year old DD was so proud of being able to hold him. She decided to take him outside for a minute, of course I got a little upset and told her to bring him back in. She came in and tripped on the door jam, and of course she dropped him. He hit the floor pretty hard, and I freaked out. So did my DD. I called the Dr. who told me that babies bounce. He was fine, and my DD was fine. She learned her lesson. We all still tease my son about it!

Seriously, 22:41. So what if OP did just want some reassurance? I think its great that people have jumped in to provide it. Parenting is hard and I bet that all of us, at some point or another, doubt our abilities. Maybe OP didn't really think that she was "the worse mom ever," but it sounded like, at the very least, she needed some positive feedback. What on earth is the problem?!

My niece was 1.5, climbed on a rocking style chair with a low back, tumbled over the back, and busted her chin open, requiring an ER run and lots of stitches, .........all while four adults watched her do it. I wasn't there, but afterwards, everyone was like, "come on, 4 on 1 and it STILL happened???"

I think it is very terrifying to have a baby in NICU, but believe it or not, these little guys are sturdy. It will take you a long time to believe it; but they are made of tougher stuff than you are....

He is ok thank you! At least I think, I'm monitoring. And y'all were right -- the Er sent us home and just said to watch him. Wth is fair fax so far away, btw? I was dying in the car. I jut thought this was all so easy, people get pregnant and just have babies, stop the fussing. Hubris, people! So I had mine early ad dropped him on his poor preemie head. From a height.

Umm, so when my child was 2 weeks old, he was sleeping in bed with me and scooted (he was a tummy sleeper) right off the bed head first. I thanked God our carpet was thick and the bed was only a foot and a half off the floor.

Another time, he was about three months and dead asleep on my bed. I had put pillows to each side of him so he couldn't roll toward the edge of the bed, went to the bathroom and heard the THUMP and wailing child as I was washing my hands. He had "crawled" over the pillow. He started really crawling at 4 months...needless to say, he is no longer allowed to sleep in my bed. He's totally healthy and happy and even a little advanced developmentally, hence the crawling at 4 months.

My friend had her 5 month old strapped in her snap n' go, on top of the washer while doing laundry and it fell off. Little girl had a bump on her head, friend took her to the ER, she was fine.

A mom I worked for (as a nanny) DROPPED both of her sons when they were infants (not twins, years apart). They both jack-knifed out of her arms. Both of them were fine.
Sh*t happens. Don't beat yourself up.

I've been a nanny for 10 years and a mom for 1. I figured I'd have it easy, and for the most part I do. But still, there are those moments when I wonder why I ever thought it would be easy raising a little person 24/7. I may have been more prepared for motherhood because of all my experience, but you can never REALLY be prepared for the emotional or financial parts of it. You just do the best you can and love your baby. You are not the first mom that's had this happen, you wont be the last.

I did it twice. No er.

This. I didn't go to the ER either. He's 2 now and bp lasting effects!

It was an accident! You are not the worst mother on earth. Is the baby OK?

You are NOT horrible. Shit happens, good parents make mistakes. Sometimes they're little and easy to brush off, and sometimes they're scary and send you to the ER (been there, done that). But they do NOTmake you a bad parent.

So give him some extra snuggles and give yourself a break.
