Both my sons went through play based preschool (Westover Baptist) for 2 years and they are well prepared for school. My older son is in 1st now and my younger son will start K in the fall. Much of the 1st part of K was a review for my older son. Not sure about the curriculum you mentioned, but I agree with the PP that the Arl Co programs are difficult to get into. I figure kids gave enough time for academics once they start elementary - preschool should be fun.

I think the Trinity School of Early Learning on Columbia Pike has the abeka curriculum. They may have spots as well.

Fact of the matter is that play based preschools are developmentally the most appropriate for children, and, as a result, finding academically focussed preschools will be very difficult for you in Arlington.

Enrollment is in January and February. All of the good preschools in Arlington are on waitlist now.

Well, I'll reply even though you sound kind of annoying and have a very poor understanding of child development. You have no chance of getting into the Arlington county schools preschool programs unless you are low-income.

If you are not low income, there are many lovely, nurturing private preschools to choose from in Arlington. The best ones are play-based. They are also very reasonably-priced in my opinion- usually around $300/month for 3-4 mornings a week. Varies depending on the school of course.

If that is too expensive for you, you might check the morning preschool programs run by Arlington County Recreation Dept at the community centers.

Ive relocated to the area and my son is 4 ..he has been in a structured private christian school since he was 2 where he learned the Abeka curriculum... Ive been search in Arlington for the same thing but the prices are beyond INSANE....so Im considering the preschool program with Arlington County Schools..any thoughts or suggestions from anyone...??? I dont want to hinder him in any way by putting him in a program where they play all day and this will put him behind...Please Help!!
