I was quoted $50-60K a year or so ago in Chevy Chase, DC. Didn't do the job. However, now (same area) I was quoted $30K to add one to a house that is currently being built - I guess in part because they will already be on site it is cheaper. Not sure how it is $20K more just to do it as a one off job, but hope the data is helpful.
Neighborhood doesn't matter. What matters is the perceptions of the homeowner and the type of contractor or design build firm they go with.
