My DD got low GBRS (8) but got good comments. The comment from teacher doesn’t match with GBRS (8). She didn't get AAP in 3rd grade. She get most of Os and Gs in her report card and her DRA level was 28 (2nd grade benchmark score) at the end of first grade. I wonder if she can get in to AAP if I appeal and get a high WISC test. Should I ask to teacher why she given only 8 but with good comments?
My DD is in a similar situation as your DD (get almost of Os in her report card and her DRA level was 28, GBRS (10), HIGH remarks in all categories on her commentary report. We were disappointed to learn that she was not accepted into the AAP program. We were planning to appeal the decision.
I called the AAP central office and spoke with a member and got some very useful information. She said is not the score issue, taking another IQ will not help as much as a good appeal letter and additional information about your child.
I also requested a copy of my DD's screening file and found out what was weak in the GBRS and form arguments and a perspective for the appeal. I hope this ifno will help, good luck to your DD.
