Our kid has always remembered them, but teachers will also distribute them, if asked.

It's your right to see them (under FERPA). Email the teacher and ask him/her for them. If he/she won't provide right a nice letter to the principal saying that you would like to see your child's MAP-R scores, which are considered "educational records" within the meaning of FERPA and must be provided to parents.

As I remember they test MAP in the fall and spring at least (maybe one other time in the year, but not sure about that).

I find MAP-R very useful. It clued me in to the fact that my child was reading about 4 grades above grade level and made me realize she was probably ready for the HGC. Also, MAP-R can be converted to a Lexile score, which is a really useful tool for steering your child to books that are not too hard, not too easy.

In our elem., the teachers show the MAP-R scores at the parent conference.

We always see them. I have kids in ES and MS and I get them every year.

I always ask for them in an email to the teacher, and she sends them. (I'm the PP from the other MAP-R email.) DD has a 504 for a learning disability so I like to track how she's doing, and they are happy to provide them.

Just curious. Our MCPS elementary does not distribute these to the parents. I don't know why. This 3rd grade year is our last year in this school, or else I would push the issue with the principal. It would be nice to see a way of quantifying math and reading improvement, and with this being my only experience with an elementary school in MCPS, I'm surprised others get the opportunity to see the scores.
