OP, I agree with PPs. We tried for 10 months (I was 32 when we started) and I was so impatient with our OB, who told us "you're fine, just keep trying". (hubs is approaching 40, though) I made us go to Shady Grove just to get a full workup/tests. Everything came out normal but we started the Clomid/IUI track anyway (fully out of pocket); hasn't been successful yet. You are not overreacting, especially with PCOS. Trust your gut and just think of the RE as a more thorough and detailed approach. Especially if it is covered!!

I have PCOS (also diagnosed in 2008). I went straight to Shady Grove and got pregnant on my first Clomid cycle. I'm 12 weeks today! I really liked the extra monitoring that you get from an RE. We will probably go back to Shady Grove for #2 even though my OB said she would prescribe me Clomid. Good luck, OP!

...And who says you should take clomid? Everyone is different.
The PCOS is your issue, an RE is the right person to treat.

Go straight to an RE. They are amazing. We got pregnant on our 3rd month trying with only timed intercourse, clomid, and a trigger shot. I highly recommend Dr. Sacks.

Recommended to see an RE at 12 months TTC if under age 35. Though, due to your issue and coverage, it would not hurt to see an RE now...

My situation: 31 years old, been trying for 10 months. Diagnosed with PCOS in 2008 by an RE in a different area. Cycles very irregular upon diagnoses, got better for awhile, past 6-ish months have gotten more irregular. I have excellent fertility coverage through my husband's insurance, but he may switch jobs in the next year or two.

My benefits do not require I go to my OBGYN first. To be clear, we haven't tried anything other than preseed and charting to help matters. My understanding is that Clomid is the probable first step--is there any reason to go through my OBGYN first for a workup, or can I go straight to an RE? I love my OBGYN, but I kind of feel like I need to just get on the infertility train and use the benefits I have in the most efficient way possible, but I'm just wondering if an RE is "overkill" for the first few Clomid cycles....

Hopefully this makes sense, I'm still new to all this. Thanks.
