It was still fine according to the sell-by date and didn't smell strange uncooked or feel slimy or anything.

Do you think dark meat just has a different taste, or do you think it's spoiled? Any way to tell for sure?

When in doubt, don't eat it doh-doh........If I open meat or anything for that matter and it smells bad, I take it back to the grocery store.

Bad chicken smells sour, like sweat, when it first starts to go. Then it just smells BAD.

Either way, if it was fully cooked it won't harm you.

Of course dark meat tastes different. I'm sure it was fine if it didn't smell bad raw

It's not as dry as the white meat, but it shouldn't taste "off" or "eggy." I would never eat chicken that seemed in any way odd tasting.
