Lots of kids playing in my n'hood in Chevy Chase -- at the playground and in their yards, riding bikes and pushing scooters, selling lemonade, etc. It's one of the things that drew us to this area when we moved here almost 20 years ago. Our kids are teens and in college now and they have many friends in Battery Park as well, though we know only one family there with younger kids. OP, I know you're looking at this for near-term, but you might also want to consider -- as other readers might -- that the n'hoods close to "downtown Bethesda" are great when you have tweens and younger teens. It's nice to be able to give them the freedom to walk to a movie or to get some fro yo with friends.

I live in Greenwich Forest, between Suburban and Greenwich Park. You won't see kids out playing in the street, but in the afternoons you will see them out in force at the park.

You can spend the rest of the week driving around Bethesda and you won't see any school-aged kids anywhere. They are either with their nannies, inside playing on the computer, playing video games, or otherwise sitting on their rear ends. Kids do not play outside in Bethesda. Its frowned on. If you want an enviroment where kids are outside after school then find a house in Damascus or Poolesville.

Unreal.

And "their kids" is the correct usage here.

It's true-they won't admit it but watch when whitman parents walk into an event at B-CC they cringe

Greenwich Forst is Whitman, half of Battery Park is B-CC other half is Whitman-Glenbrook is the line, one side is one school, the other the other school. The younger kids who go to BE now who will end up at Whitman will move to Bradley Hills in two years.

You can;t go wrong with either school but people will say Whitman is better becuase it is less diverse-they will say that isn't the reason but it is. White people don't want there kids going to school with the silver spring non-whites.

The neighborhoods are very different, greenwich forest is now a historicla area so beware of that for renovating, battery park has smalle rlots, lower priced homes and the landscaping is ntot as mature.

Getting into battery park during rush hour is a pain in the ass while it is easy for greenwich forest.

We are thinking about buying a house in the Battery Park/Greenwich Forest area of Bethesda. Would be interested in any feedback on the community and whether there are a decent number of elementary-aged kids in the neighborhood. Thanks for any input!
