ALL CHEMICALS ARE BAD NO MATTER WHAT!

BETTER NOT TO RISK ANYTHING! NO DYING HAIR, NO MAKE-UP or DEODORANT! NOTHING BUT ORGANIC HOMEMADE FOOD! MUST PROTECT THE BABY!

Isn't that the appropriate approach?

A lot of PPs have said stay away from sulfur!!! But nobody has explained exactly what the risk is for pregnant women, and more importantly, the evidence upon which this theory is based.

Just go to Whole Foods and get normal dried fruit with no additives! I have been eating dried apricots and prunes my whole pregnancy but I ALWAYS make sure it has NO preservatives or additives, for example the ingredients just say "prunes" and that's it!

...be careful! Talk to your ob. Yes, most dried fruit has sulfur on it. Whole foods or organic dried fruit should be ok...some would be fine but, if your eating it alot...you should buy the sulfur free! I didn't know either! Until, I looked into it during my first trimester. I don't think the safe stuff is that much more expensive.

There is also some dried fruit from Just Tomatoes that is amazing. I found it at Roots and started ordering it online. There are no preservatives whatsoever. The bananas are my absolute favorite (it is very different from banana chips with the heavy oils) this is just nothing but the fruit.

I believe they also sell them on Amazon....

The whole foods brand of dried mango is amazing and I think the only ingredient is mangos. More expensive though.

Find unsulfured ones if you can (not hard), but don't give it up - it's great for keeping up your fiber intake!

I wouldn't worry about sulfur dioxide unless, like my husband, you have ashma, which makes him wheeze. Trader Joe's has a number of dried fruits without it. But it's not something that's on the avoid list for pregnancy.

Sulfur dioxide is used to maintain the pretty color and softer texture of dried fruits, and is used most often with apricots, prunes and cranberries, I think. Turkish apricots are the most frequent "offender"

There are a lot of options for dried fruit without sulfur dioxide, as long as you read the ingredients (sometimes it's widely advertised on the label).

I hadn't heard anything bad about it for pregnancy specifically. Is your DH a doctor or nutritionist?

I think different brands have different ingredients. I loved the medjool dates from whole foods. Kept them in the fridge and ate them whenever I wanted something sweet.

I just checked the ingredients on my dried chili mangoes from Trader Joe's. It reads Mango (mango, sugar), Paprika, Sugar, Salt, Citric Acid, Cayenne... Check ingredients on your other fruit it may be fine.

We eat a lot of dried fruit. and I have been craving it. I recently saw that the ingredients on dried mangos is sulfur dioxide. DH says a lot of dried fruit has this and I probably should avoid it. But the problem is I have consumed so much already that I am worried. Any thoughts?
