I half pack my case, pack the hat crown full of socks and panties, put it in the case and then pack around it.

Wear it on your head and stow it on the plane on top of your carry-ons!

I have crushed my 2 favorite hats in the past, I don't have one of those squishy hats that bounce right back, so how do you travel with a sun hat, like to the islands where you have to have one?
