I wish I had answers for you OP, but all I've got is sympathy. My boss treats me the same way despite my productivity and he let's coworkers get away with murder (you know, like only working part time in a full time position). Yet I take a sick day and never hear the end of it. I think my boss thought I wasn't sucking up to him enough. Your boss sounds like a chauvinist (so is mine). The one thing that might make him happy is me telling him he is a god, right, and never challenge his authority. I decide to look for a new position and I'm leaving soon!

Op here ...have to vent again. Boss forgot about admin day yesterday so we all had gifts on our desk this morning. After hearing people talk and discuss the cash gift and candy, I realized I got 50 bucks less than the people who have been there either the same amount or less time than me! What the hell? I don't care about the money, I just don't get why he hates me

get the hell out of there. I too worked at a place that made me physically sick and I lost weight too. I was being sexually harassed but I think that the type of harassment doesn't matter...so leave asap! (I realize that's not always easy).

Op here ...lol I've thought about just not going to work anymore but I'd feel so guilty leaving my coworkers and the pa in that situation. When I leave I do plan on leaving as professionally as possible while I also tell my boss that the way he treated me is not OK and how I feel. I've day dreamed so many ways I could argue he was discriminating against me or creating a hostile work environment or something where I could get money out of him while also not working. Lol.
I already feel sick to my stomach about working today and I haven't even left my apt.

sorry, OP, sounds like a bad experience that's getting worse. you need to get out. document everything, and get out as quickly as possible. don't wait until you start grad school.

Could you work with a temp agency? Honestly, not sure I'd give notice. I'd just get up one day, start driving to work and then decide to stop for breakfast instead and smile and laugh when they realized I wasn't showing up and eventually they'll realize who was making all those mistakes.

Be totally professional when you resign. That is, to everyone but this person. When you are alone with him, smile and like a crazy person, calmly say some crazy shit in a friendly voice.

I think you should stand up for yourself, just be polite and nice about it. And document everything.

You've probably thought about what you'd like to say since you were reprimanded, and you should write a response letter to be kept in your folder or request a follow up meeting.

"Boss, you said yesterday that there was a problem with my performance becaues of x,y,z. I am concerned about this and have done some reflection on our discussion. My records reflect a, b, c..." etc.

Get ut as soon as you can. I just walked away from a situation like that. Luckily, I could afford to because we don't have kids yet and over a year living expenses in cash savings now in addition to investments. I am going back to school and it felt so damn good to give my crazy bitch boss notice. Tis psycho enjoyed making people cry. For years I thought it was me. Even went to therapy. It was the job. Op here. I've thought about finding something short term but between needing time off for prep stuff for the fall plus 2 destination weddings this summer, I'm not sure I'd find a new job. However there is a chance that I might wait until January to get better scholarships and if that's the case ill be looking for a new job asap. Thankfully the pa is wonderful (boss isn't a huge fan of women who have more power than him so they aren't best of friends either) and is totally helpful and supportive of me.

Now that you have experience at this place, could you possibly look for something short term? Sorry you are going through this.

I hear ya, sister. One of my previously hideously stressful jobs resulted in two root canals from cracked molars (clenching from stress) and me on Lexapro and in group therapy for two years afterward. Bitch boss almost drove me to the brink. It's not worth it. If you can, get out. No regrets.

So to start off, I graduated college in the height of the economic collapse and took a job in admin because that was all I could find in the area I lived. I've been there for 3 years putting money away so I could pursue my education further (really the only way to advance in my choice of careers) and am hoping to leave my job this summer in order to return to school full time. So here is the thing..

Last year we got a new office manager (technically my boss but I will never use him for a referral and instead will list the PA i work for) and he seems to hate me. He has always treated me differently than anyone else in the office (other people have too much work, he gives it to me even though I only have one day without patients and everyone else has 3. If I tell him I can't do it, I'm told to figure out a way to get my own work done earlier so I can help out. If someone else is out sick, I almost always have to cover for them while doing my own job. If i'm out sick no one takes my calls or does any of my work. There are a lot of examples but I'm honestly too tired and stressed right now to list them).

So final kicker for me was yesterday but I won't bore you with details. I was reprimanded today for 30 minutes over something that 1. my boss pulled numbers out of his ass about because I double checked after and 2. I was only responsible for 25% of what was incorrect (it had to due with how patients were being booked). I tried to tell him but he ignored me. I checked some other people's schedule, and some of them had upwards of 90% of patients being booked wrong! But as usual, no one else gets called out on it and it is the same old same old all my fault and I"m the only one who can't do a good job. The absolute best was when he asked why I couldn't be more like another coworker (who funny enough was one of the people who didn't do their job that I was reprimanded for) and that some of the doctors didn't want to pay my salary.

Ok I know I sound like a baby ranting, but I'm so beyond stressed out and unhappy at work that I constantly feel sick to my stomach and am close to panic attack mode every time I walk into the building.
