10:00 you not going to get an argument out of me in support for barry.
all im doing is trying to "explain" his continued popularity in the ward.
and speaking of that HBO documentary its really sad that barry had all that potential and almost threw it away. regardless of what you think about him, the man had potential that he used early on, only to piss it away for drugs and corruption. just sad

Really? 40% unemployment is a great voice? There are other voices in the community. He's just an enabler for the lazy.
when you live in such poor conditions and marion barry is that one person who is always passing out turkeys on thanksgiving and raising hell about conditios in the community (whether something is done about it or not) you appreciate and gravitate towards that as your source of hope.
there have been articles written on people who have gotten "help" from barry and value that gesture and in turn continue to support him. 40% unemployment may be true but when blind loyalty allows barry to stand up and say the problem is with the rest of dc government because hes out there "fighting for them" everyday.
I also remember watching the HBO documentary about him and the other candidates talking about ending the cycle of poverty that helps to keep Barry in power and one almost got murdered Ward 8 residents. Barry's view of "help" is unlimited government no-show jobs.

There is no reason to address all DC residents. Only voters in Ward 8 have a say in the matter. Also, Barry in one member of the Council, he is not our "legislature".
