I've used Calico Corners twice and was VERY happy with their work and service. It is pricey though. Wait for their annual March sale - it's the best they have all year with 20% off material and labor. Good luck!

If you are up for installing yourself, try The Shade Store (online only). You'd have to source fabric elsewhere, but their window coverings are nice and a little cheaper than Calico.

Etsy can be hit or miss (had a terrible experience with someone who made custom crib bedding), but a friend had excellent experience with someone who made her roman shades). You just have to be sure you use someone who has a history of good work.

There are also lots of local seamstresses that do this work. I went the smith and noble route and the person who consulted has her own business and would have done my treatments for less. Also if you sign up on angies list or neighbors network I'm sure you'd find tons of good referrals.

After being floored by how expensive calico corners was, I went to etsy. Got the exact same roman shades for $225 that CC quoted for $850. The only drawback was that I had to install them myself, which was a little more work, but well worth it! I bought the fabric from calico corners online and had it shipped to the seller that I chose on etsy. There are a ton of choices if you search "custom curtains" or such. Mostly, they're just at-home seamstresses, so I'm sure they can do matching dust ruffles/pillows, etc.

JC Penney. I visited a home with wonderful window treatments and matching bed linens and the owner told me she used JC Penney!

We're looking for custom window treatments--would also like to coordinate dust ruffles/matching toss pillows with some window treatments. Any recommendations? We're in NoVA. Have already looked at Calico Corners and Smith and Noble. Thanks!
